For two beautiful autumn days in October, fifteen men and women from seven different areas of the country met at the Alpinis cabin, MLI’s cozy cabin near Paltinis, Sibiu county, so that together we would learn how we can better help the young people we work with at the Reeducation Center in Buzias after they return home. What we think they lack when they go back to their families is a good life model that they could follow, they lack a mentor. The subject this weekend was about how we can be mentors to these young people, and how we could help other Christians to mentor vulnerable youth.
Missio Link International Foundation drafted a guide based on Biblical principles and examples of mentoring plus strategies, values and techniques of counseling vulnerable young people. The meeting was interactive and dynamic with role plays and case studies. The participants shared that the resources and examples provided can be used not only in mentoring young people from CRM Buziaş, but also in assisting other vulnerable groups from their communities so that local churches would meet the spiritual, social and material needs of the ones in need.
