In mid-autumn, October 20–23, participants from different parts of Romania gathered to take part in the “Trauma Healing” course, coordinated by the Missio Link International (MLI) team in partnership with the Interconfessional Biblical Society of Romania (SBIR), the American Bible Society (ABS), and GROVE Group from Memphis, TN, USA.
For several years, Stephanie Moore, our partner from Memphis, TN, has traveled to facilitate this program with MLI. Scripture and mental health principles come together to offer people practical tools for healing and understanding in community.. “It’s amazing to see how God uses this process to reach the hearts of those who come to the sessions. Many leave here ready to carry hope back into their communities”, says Stephanie.
The Trauma Healing program was initially created for communities affected by disasters or conflict, but it has proven to be a valuable resource for anyone carrying unseen wounds. At Alpinis, participants had the opportunity to work at both the introductory and advanced levels. Those who completed the advanced course are now qualified as facilitators to train others.
Mircea Bivolaru, from Piatra Neamt, attended Trauma Healing together with his daughter. “The course doesn’t give you personal development recipes. Instead, it helps you see yourself with honesty and enables you to help others understand themselves as well. It’s like an X-ray of the soul—you can’t heal a wound until you acknowledge it. And everything happens step by step, with patience and respect for each person’s uniqueness.”
Alongside Stephanie, pastor Cornel Boingeanu, Ruben Dubei, and Oana Mihalache (SBIR) served as facilitators, who accompanied the participants through this delicate process of discovery and growth. Each day offered a balance of teaching, personal reflection, small group work, and prayer.
At the end of the sessions, after completing an exam, participants left equipped with a valuable resource to serve their local communities, carrying with them the conviction that healing is possible—and that God works through people who choose to listen, understand, and love.
