In the outskirts of the town Recas there is a second generation of uprooted and illiterate adults, working men and women brought in the area to work in the former agricultural enterprises tens of years ago. The Revolution gave them freedom to go back home if they had any place to go, but diminished their possibilities of earning the daily bread. Without a constant source of income, without a qualification, tens of families live below the limit of sustenance. Families with three or four children live in one room, in one of the auxiliary buildings of the former communist farms , with no running water and in many cases without electricity. For these families, sending their children to school is a luxury they cannot afford. Not few are the days in which all they have to set on the table is bread they received from their neighbors, out of pity. In the last four years, the Missio Link International Foundation in partnership with “Constantin Paunescu” School helped very poor children in the area of Recas go to school, answering the needs for food, clothing and school supplies of these children. In the school year 2012-2013, BRD – Group Societe General joined us, through the program Change a Destiny, Give Value to a Life, so that 200 children, with ages between 3 and 17, running the risk of abandoning the school, of neglecting, and even of child abandonment, Back to School. Visit the Photo Gallery to see how the destiny of these children has changed.
