This is a new MLI project which began in January 2016 and is being funded by United Way Romania. The project will run for two years because from the groups with high risk of social exclusion, the children are most affected. The risk increases proportionally with the parents’ level of education. In Romania 87.1% of children with parents with lower levels of education are at risk of poverty, compared to 14.6% of children with parents with higher education. In the neighboring villages around Timisoara, where there is a second generation of uprooted, illiterate or semi-illiterate adults, the phenomenon of abuse and exploitation of children has increased by 42% in recent years.

During the project implementation a total of 150 children and 35 disadvantaged families, under 35 years old from the Recaş administrative area will benefit from psychological, financial and vocational counseling.
