Exploitation for committing felony acts is an abuse on the child. So, in the first half of the year 2012 in Romania, 40 children have become victims of this form of exploitation. What happens to these children? They serve their time for the offense in re-education facilities for minor offenders, or, in other words, juvenile prisons. Starting with 2008, the Missio Link International Foundation, through the HARMONY program, has been working in the Re-education Center for Minor Offenders in Buzias with about 70 boys. A few weeks ago they were joined by 12 girls aged between 14 and 17, convicted for felonies they committed because they were encouraged by adults. How many of the adults were convicted? Public statistics do not say this, all they say is that in the first half of 2012 5665 cases of child abuse have been reported, and only 263 of the cases were brought in front of the criminal investigation services.
